Research

My current research focusses on the intellectual history of money and its development. In particular, I am examining the thought of heterodox economists Georg Friedrich Knapp and Johann Gottlieb Fichte on state theories of money. This project seeks to rediscover historical debates regarding state monetary theories to better understand current economic proposals such as Modern Monetary Theory (MMT).

Additional research interests include:

  • The thought of Hannah Arendt and Judith Shklar
  • Methods of intellectual historical inquiry
  • Biopolitics and the work of Michel Foucault and Giorgio Agamben
  • Theories of state and its intellectual historical development
